I am wanting to make this, but don't need all that it seems this recipe would make..I wonder if it would turn out if I just halved everything but the hashbrowns?
ReplyDeleteI have not had a chance to make this yet, but my guess would be that the potatoes would be kinda dry, so I'd buy a smaller bag of h.b. potatoes. But this is just my opinion. :)
DeleteI've made it and halfed all ingredients for my smaller family and it came out delish!!! I also added.pepers and oniona for color and flavor. Just make sure ur hashbrowns are completely covered so it doesn't come out 'dry'
DeleteHi girls, I am in Sydney Australia and love these recipes. WHAT IS RANCH DIP and I presume the oven temps are F, we have Celsius.
DeleteJoy
Hi Joy, in Sydney Australia!
DeleteThank you for enjoying my blog of recipes :) Ranch dip is a kind of dip/sauce that you can use to dip your vegetables, chips, or whatever you'd like in. Kind of like ketchup. There is also ranch dressing, same flavoring, that you can use on your salads, etc. This is a definition I got from Wikipedia: Ranch dressing is a type of salad dressing made of some combination of buttermilk, salt, garlic, onion, herbs (commonly chives, parsley, and dill), and spices (commonly black pepper, paprika, and ground mustard seed), mixed into a sauce. This recipe calls for packets of the flavoring that you would mix into sour cream to make the dip. It is just a mix of seasonings. I hope I'm not too confusing.
Ahhh, yes, the oven temps are in Fahrenheit. :)

ReplyDeleteI love your idea of a PIN IT button, but I cannot figure out how to do it. :( I have to get ready for work now, but I promise to keep working on this.
DeleteOR if you know how to do it, please let me know so that I can do it! :)
Thanks for the comment and suggestion!
How big is the bag of hash browns?
ReplyDeleteI just copied this recipe from a post on facebook :) so I don't know what the author intended for sure, but my guess would be about a 2 pound bag, since everything else in the recipe is "2". But I'm not sure what size bags the hash browns come in. I've been wanting to try this, but just haven't taken the time.
Delete28-30
DeleteI make this all the time
Made it and everyone loved it!
ReplyDeleteYay, so awesome!! Thanks for reading and using my recipe blog! Thank you for the comment :)
DeleteWe love this recipe!!!
ReplyDeleteIf u make in advance for a trip do u bake and freeze or mix everything up, freeze and bake later
ReplyDeleteI would bake it when I arrived....or if I was going to be pressed for time, I'd maybe parbake it (partially bake it), freeze it, and then finish baking when I arrived. But I don't usually bring food that far away, so I'm not really sure of the best way to do it.
DeleteThanks for reading!
I made these last night. The ranch dip and sour cream were over powering! I would cut back on both, add some unsalted butter and more cheese next time.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment!! It is nice to hear how people like each recipe and how you can change it just a bit to make it how you like it. :) Thanks again for letting us know; I will keep this in mind if I ever do get around to trying this. :)
DeleteThis recipe is amazing even my picky brother in law loved it. I halfed the recipe and it wprked just as well. But I probably shouldnt have bc everyone was getting 2nds lol.
ReplyDeleteIve heard to bake it covered then un cover it the last 10 minutes to brown the top. I'm using a 36 oz bag but it seems like a lot. I'll cut it back to 28-30 oz next time. and probably more bacon :)
ReplyDeletePs super easy to make. Just a few minutes.
DeleteA coworker made this for me for my promotion brunch. I loved it. Got the recipe and been making it ever since. Making it right now for breakfast tomorrow. I put my own twist and added some caramelized onions!!! YUMMMM
ReplyDeleteIt's a great recipe especially if you are taking pot luck or you have a large family :)
